5 Essential for a Perfect Sunday Morning!

Perfect Sunday Morning

So I really think Sunday Mornings are my favorite time of the week. Usually it is when I am least busy and honestly can just be kind of lazy and enjoy it.

Even though I said it was time to be lazy, I actually don’t like sleeping in too late on Sundays. I feel like if I do, I’m wasting my lazy time on sleep and not being lazy. Weird right?!

So I like waking up around 8 am on Sundays. That way it gives me the whole morning to spend time on myself.

First I like to take a warm shower. I would prefer a bubble bath, but I have to work with what I got. I use to hate morning showers but now I love feeling clean first thing in the morning.

after shower lotion

Second I love to take time and cover myself in lotion. My three favorites so far are the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion (this really helps my skin in the winter), Olay Quench Body Lotion, and Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple Body Cream. I usually rotate between these three. Once I slather up, I put on my robe and let my skin enjoy the moisture!

Clarisonic Detoxifying Clay Mask

Third I enjoy putting on a mask whenever I am trying to pamper myself. This one here is a favorite and I have repurchased it twice now. Highly recommend! I love how clean it makes my face feel.

White Chocolate Mocha

Fourth – coffee! Do I really need to say anymore? 😉 My favorite so far has been this limited edition white chocolate mocha from Meijer. Seriously y’all, I could drink this whole thing in one sitting if I let myself.

Lastly, after I have my shower done, my skin all moisturized, face mask on, and coffee, I go curl up on the couch with my ipad. Sometimes I shop, sometimes I play around on pinterest, and sometimes I catch up on some youtube videos.

But this is my perfect Sunday morning. Now this isn’t always a weekly ritual ( I wish it was!). Today actually, I am busy all day long. But it is still important to try and make sometime whenever you can fit it in. Maybe for you it’s a Tuesday afternoon, or a Thursday night. But takes some time for yourself. BE LAZY! It’s okay to be lazy every now and then. 😉

~ March Goals 2018 ~

March Goals

Happy Thursday!!

Well March is about half way over so some might think I’m silly for just now sharing my goals… But better late than never! Right?! 😉

One thing I’ve learned about sitting goals is to start them right away. Even if half the month over. Whether that’s with working out, career goals, or reading your Bible. Never wait till a new month starts, just start now!

So here are my March goals that I have been trying to keep so far and hope to continue.

1)  Fitness – I have had work out goals for a long time, and honestly they never get completed. I start off great but usually by the second week, I’ve already fallen off the wagon. One thing I have learned from a YouTuber, Cambria Joy is to just give your self grace. If you fall off the wagon, its okay, it happens. Just get right back up and try again. So I’m trying again.  My goal is to make it to Planet Fitness 2 times a week. There has been 3 months I have had a membership there and never used it. So two times a week I thought would be something manageable to put into my schedule. I actually already failed that goal last week, only making it once… but remember grace! 😉

2)  This blog! I have loved blogging. I love writing and being able to share it. So I hope to upload at least twice a week sometimes three if I feel spunky enough.

3) Bible Study– I try to read my bible everyday. Now to be honest, sometimes I fail, and miss a whole week. So my goal is to be consistent. On the YouVersion Bible app on my phone, I follow the Bible reading plan called, Eat this book: One Year Bible with Daily Psalm. I have read the whole Old Testament so far, and I am half way through with the Book of Luke now. On this plan, you read 4-5 chapters a day. And it is super do able if you break it up through out the day!

4) Prayer – That is something that I have been growing in more this year than ever. I have a reminder set on my phone to go off every day to remind me to take a few moments and say a prayer. I feel it is very important in my Christian walk. Just like with Bible reading, with this some days I do great and some days I say,  “oh I’ll do it later.”  Consistency is key!  So that is one thing I want to continue working on.

So I hope my goals inspire you to make some goals for yourself. Remember it’s never too late!

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7

~ My Day Designer Planner ~

Day Designer Planner

Hey y’all! Happy Sunday! I love Sunday mornings, it is so nice to just sit down and relax. Usually on Sundays my husband and I sleep in some. We then usually eat a light breakfast then run out for errands.

Starbucks is one of our first stops. We only allow us to get Starbucks on Sundays, or we would go broke. 😉 My husband always asked me if I want to run by Target. He knows me too well. 😉

One thing that I always sit time for on Sundays is to use my planner. Now, once I got married I realized how much I need a planner. Just writing everything down in a notebook did not help me.

Check out my YouTube channel for videos on these planners!

So I found the brand Day Designer at Target and now they are the only brand planner I buy. And I have bought it for three years!

Day Designer Planner

My first one I loved the simple but chic design. It was pretty thin compared to the other two I have. That is because you planned your whole week out on two days. Now, the planners allow each day to have their own page.

Because I loved my first one so much, and I had started following Day Designer on social media, I looked online to purchase my next one!

The next one I got was the full size Day Designer. In a black and white spot print. One of my dream dogs to own is a Dalmatian, so that is what inspired me to get that print. 😉

This planner offered more room for writing. You had a two page calendar spread at the beginning of every month, plus a column on the side for notes. Each square for a day on the calendar was pretty spacious.

Day Designer Planner

Next each day of the week had its own page. Monday had its own page, Tuesday had its own page, you get the picture. 😉 Saturday and Sunday are the only days that share a page.

Day Designer Planner

Each weekly page allows room for your top three, due, dinner, dollars, don’t forget, to-do list, notes, daily gratitude, and section from 5am-9 am (7am. -7pm for smaller planners). All these sections help for planning my day!

Day Designer Planner

For this past year June 2017- May 2018, I purchased the smaller planner in a palm tree print. Now it was an adjustment going from the larger one to the smaller one, due to the size of the page. But I still love my planner.

This planner offered the same options as my first one did in the layout of the page. Also they have helpful planning pages in the beginning of the planner like a chart over your top 5 values, strengths, and passions, your goals for the year involving helping yourself, others, academics, resources, and career. These charts help you make three, six, nine, and year long goals. Plus pages for notes!

I would share pictures of these but mine currently have writing on them, and I don’t want to share all my secrets. 😉

Some of my favorite stickers I have gotten so far!  Thanks Meijer and Etsy!

Day designer is actually releasing their new mid-year prints today (Wednesday the 21st). as I’m writing this!  I will be repurchasing one again this year. The ones that I like so far are the new secret garden print, the rosey posey (if they offer that in mid-year), or the black stripe. I know the black stripe print is kind of basic, but it also reminds me of a Kate Spade print. (Also, only if they offer it in the mid-year option).

They do have a new palm tree print coming out Antigua, but I think I’m done with palm tree leaves for a while. So far these are the only prints I have seen they are releasing, so check the website for more options.

Lastly, I’m not sure if I will get the full size or the smaller size this year, I’m still debating. But I will share what ever I get on my instagram page! Check me out on there – gracefullyfashionable.

So for all my planner girls out there, I recommend checking out this brand! I forgot to mention, their price usually ranges from $50-$60 dollars.

Hope everyone has a great day planning!

BUFFALO CHICKPEA TACOS!!!

Buffalo Chickpea Taco

Hey y’all! This is one of my favorite recipes! I make it every Friday, because it is so easy and lasts during the weekend, when I don’t feel like cooking!

It is the Buffalo Chickpea Taco. I originally got the recipe off Pinterest, but have now, kind of turned it into my own. The recipe on Pinterest (Check it out on my Pinterest board) is the Buffalo Chickpea Salad Sandwiches.

I first got into the recipe, when my husband and I became vegetarian. It tastes delicious on bread, gluten free of course! Also as a dip for nachos, and tacos! Tacos have been our new favorite way to eat it.

Buffalo Chickpea taco

It has just 4 ingredients! And takes less than 15 minutes to make!

All you need is:

2  15oz. cans of chickpeas/garbanzo beans

Franks Red Hot original sauce

So Delicious Dairy Free Coconut Milk Yogurt Alternative (you can use regular yogurt if you prefer, I recommend a plain/unsweetened kind)

Pickles (Claussen is my favorite kind!)

FIRST- I have my husband drain then mash the two cans of chickpeas. You can use your hands to mash, just takes longer. So my husband uses a masher and it takes him about 5 minutes. My husband is a way better masher than I am. 😉

NEXT ADD

½ cup of yogurt

6 pickles chopped up

(6 pickles works for us, we love pickles, if you hate pickles use less!)

5 Tablespoons of Frank’s hot sauce

(I believe the original recipe calls for 4, but we like it spicy 😉 )

LAST- mix it all together!

Buffalo Chickpea Taco

My husband and I then add the mix to our tacos! We get gluten free corn tortilla wraps (La Banderita brand – you can buy them at Meijer or Kroger, 30 wraps for about 4 bucks!)

We think this recipe is so delicious! It serves both of us at least 2 meals, sometimes 3! If you have any questions, just leave them below!

Friday Favorites – Pink Theme!!!

Hey guys!! Happy Friday!!! TGIF!!! So thankful that it is Friday. Some days I think Fridays are like the Christmas of the week. Just to sit back, enjoy, and take it easy.

Today, I wanted to share with y’all my Friday Favorites. These are products that I have loved this week. While it was not planned, this weeks favorites have a color theme – pink! Perfect for February!

Jimmy Choo, l'eau, perfume

So my first favorite is a perfume that I actually got in the Sephora Perfume Sampler box for Christmas. It is the Jimmy Choo – L’eau. I honestly can’t believe I actually have something Jimmy Choo, makes me feel kind of fancy. 😉

On the paper I got from Sephora about this perfume, it describes it as fresh, feminine, and poetic. I would describe it as a floral clean scent. I love it, and have been using it almost every day! My husband loves it too, and he’s picky!

LAQA & CO, blush highlighter

My next favorite, I received from a Birchbox. It is the LAQA & CO Blush Highlighter. I have been using this for over a month and still love it! It is so easy; it is like a cream blush with a little bit of highlight. I just put some on my cheeks, sometimes with foundation on and sometimes just to my regular pale skin. The color payoff is great. And like I said, so EASY! Just dab and go, no brush needed!

Tuscany candle, touch of romance, peony, blush

My last favorite, I bought right before Valentines Day. I bought the Tuscany Candle Touch of Romance Peony and Blush from Kroger!?! Who would have thought Kroger sells good candles! This candle smells like a fresh bouquet of flowers. I was impressed with how strong the candle smells. I can light the candle in another room and still smell it!

I have honestly considered going and buying the rest of these candles from Kroger since they are now probably on sale. 😉 Also I only paid 8 bucks in the first place! Okay, I need to stop ranting, but the color of this candle – love!

So those are my three Friday Favorites. Do y’all have any favorites that you’ve loved this week?

Now, I’m going to go light my candle, dab on some blush, and spray some Jimmy Choo! Happy Friday!

My Grand Canyon Road Trip Adventure!!!

grand canyon, fashion, style, Bright Angel Trail

Happy Thursday!!!

In this post I wanted to share with y’all about our trip to the Grand Canyon. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face. I highly recommend everyone go see it at least once. I remember when we first got there; we parked and then walked over to the edge to go get our first real look at it. It was breath taking, it looked so perfect it almost looked fake, like someone had taken a picture out of a travel book and enlarged it.

That was one of my favorite places I have ever been and my husband and I definitely plan to go back. We went during the last part of August/ early September last year (2017). We had been planning this trip for over a year. We saved every penny we could and PAYED FOR IT ALL WITH CASH!

It seems like a big task to save like that, but we followed a savings plan on Pinterest. The pin was actually a plan to save for Disney World but it worked for the Grand Canyon too. My husband also has a side business on Ebay that really helped our savings.

So how much did we save? We saved close to 5,000 if I remember correctly. However most of that was going to go towards hotels and gas. And YES we actually drove to the Grand Canyon all the way from Indiana!! And YES we actually had fun and didn’t kill each other. 😉

We actually rented a car, which my mother-in-law helped us pay for. She said it would make her feel more comfortable having us driving in a newer car verses my husbands ’05 truck or my ’00 cavalier. We got an upgrade from Enterprise and rented a Buick Enclave. It made the trip so much nicer! Heated seats, separate switches so each person could decide what they wanted the AC on, and tons of extra room. Now looking back, if we ever make the trip again, we would budget for renting a car.

The first day we traveled 19 hours! We left early Sunday morning. We were so excited, which is probably why we actually made it 19 hours in a car. We drove through St. Louis, which had lots of interesting sights including the famous Arch to see. We stopped and got Starbucks here. Missouri was a very pretty state and reminded me a lot of Tennessee. We got to see the Route 66 Welcome center, which was a fun pit stop!

Route 66, Missouri

We continued on through Oklahoma, which actually started to get kind of boring, sorry Oklahoma! Also lots of tolls, which we are not use to in Indiana. I took about an hour nap while driving through Oklahoma.

Next was onto Amarillo Texas, which was actually kind of boring as well, when you first entered Texas. But the further you got in, the more you got to see windmills! It made for very pretty scenery as the sun was sitting!

In the distance, we could see lightening for what looked like miles and miles away. But it eventually, it caught up to us and we got caught in a Texas rainstorm. Hurricane Harvey was just a few weeks earlier so there were still flood signs up for that. I hate driving in rain, so I just closed my eyes and prayed we would make it to our hotel soon.

Finally we stopped for the night, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. We always stop at Holiday Inns, my husband and I find we like those the best. One thing nice about the trip is we gained some hours from switching from Eastern Time to Mountain.

On Monday our goal was to make it to Flag Staff Arizona. On our way there we actually stopped at the Petrified Forest!

Petrified Forest

The first stop on the trail is so pretty! However, the wind was blowing so bad I felt like I was yelling at my husband to talk to him. I guess being super windy there is not uncommon. Overall the whole thing was unique to see, but my husband and I were so tired from the day before. I’m not sure we enjoyed as much as we would have, if we had had more sleep.

Petrified Forest

A couple hours outside flagstaff we stopped and saw a meteor crater, which we actually liked more than the Petrified Forest. Highly recommend making this pit stop!

meteor, crater, AZ

Finally at our destination in Flag Staff, we stopped and picked up a gluten free pizza from Dominos and got some snacks from Whole Foods for the rest of our trip. We both ate gluten free and vegetarian the whole trip!

Flagstaff was beautiful! It was a nice size town, that I actually wouldn’t mind living in! We left that morning and headed for the Grand Canyon. We initially were planning on going to the north side and walking across the glass bridge. But as I did more research while we were driving, I found out that the north side was actually owned by an Indian Reservation and it was quite pricy to go there. You had to pay for parking, then ride a bus to the bridge, then pay to go on the bridge; you had to pay to have your picture taken because you weren’t allowed to bring cameras. After thinking about it, my husband and I decided we would like to spend our money on others things. Wish we had made this decision sooner, before we had drove halfway there. Lesson learned!

Finally arriving at the Grand Canyon, the check in to the park did not take long, and the lady at the gate was very friendly! Driving into the park my husband said it felt a little like Jurassic World, since we were watching out for elk and deer.

We stayed at the El Tovar hotel at the park. I believe it is the nicest hotel there.

El Tovar Hotel, Grand Canyon, AZ

I highly recommend staying here to get the full experience! It is an older hotel so don’t expect 2017 luxuries. I actually made a video completely showing the room in my last VLOG, check it out here!

Quick review of the room- bed was comfy, small fridge, decent size TV, very nice relatively large bathroom, however very bad Wi-Fi but who needs Wi-Fi when you’re at the Grand Canyon!

The first day there, we ordered gluten free pancakes to the room, and they were delicious! All the gluten free food there was actually really good! I was surprised how many gluten free options they had! We walked around the park to the different shops and did a little sight seeing.

One thing we quickly learned is that we were not use to the elevation, and even walking up a slight hill felt like I was in the worst shape of my life. So one tip I have is to take it easy the first day and get use to the elevation change.

That day, we did the bus tour around the park, which I recommend! It was great to sight see without having to do all the walking.

Battle Ship Rock, Grand Canyon, AZ

The bus systems they have is really helpful, some take you sight seeing and some take you to the little grocery store they have and visitor center.

That evening we drove 20 minutes outside the park to Tusayan, and we did a jeep tour, which was probably my favorite thing we did! It was a sunset tour. We started by driving through the Kaibab National Forest. We had a great tour guide; he showed lots of things about the plants and wildlife. We did not see any wildlife till the end, which was a huge Elk.

During tour, they take you to a huge tower, where you can climb to the top and look out.

Grand Canyon, AZ

My husband and I actually hate heights so we went up a little and then called it quits! To end the tour, the guide takes you to a spot to over look the canyon and watch the sun go down. It really was a sight to see!

Grand Canyon, AZ, sunset tour

Our last full day at the Canyon, we did a little sight seeing again around the El Tovar Hotel. We actually walked part of the Bright Angel Trail.

grand canyon, fashion, style, Bright Angel Trail

They recommend that you do not hike all the way down and back up in a day, because it’s too much for one day. Whenever, we go back this is one thing my husband and I would like to do!

We ended the night eating some Tortilla Gluten free soup they had at one of the hotel restaurants. It was delicious and my favorite thing to eat there, I ate it almost every day! We watched the sun go down over the Canyon for our last night there.

The next morning we left early and said out good byes to the canyon. We headed towards Colorado, another stop we wanted to make before we went home. I believe it was about a ten-hour drive from the canyon. The closer you got to Denver Colorado, the prettier the drive became.  Click here to watch the Vlog of our drive!

However, the elevation continued to make us sick. We stopped at a Wal-Mart before we got to our hotel and picked up a few items including an oxygen boost container to hold up to your mouth and get some fresh air.

We stayed at a very nice hotel in downtown Denver that my husband surprised me with. Hotel Teatro. It was probably the nicest hotel I ever stayed at in my life! It had a nice big bathtub that I enjoyed to finally relax in.

The next morning we slept in and tried to rest from all our traveling. We did walk a few blocks though in Denver and got our picture taken with the mile high stair!

Mile high, Denver, Colorado, state capital

That night we ate at a yummy place (I forget the name) but it had the best gluten free veggie burger I had ever had in my life! It was at the 16th Street Mall.

Gluten free, veggie, burger, vegetarian, denver, colorado

One thing about downtown Denver I learned it is full of a variety of interesting people and very busy. We hope to go back to Denver Colorado, but probably will never go back towards Downtown.   My husband and I are more nature loving, small town folk.

The following day we drove all the way from Denver back to Indianapolis, a twelve to fourteen hour drive. The only thing I really remember about that drive is that Kansas took forever to drive across and not a lot to look at there.

The trip was the most fun trip I had ever been on and I was so thankful to do it with my husband who is my best friend. We hope to one day go back here. There is so much to do and we had so little time only having a week to travel across the country and back.

We stayed in budget with our trip that includes gas, hotel, food, gifts, and activities. If y’all would like to know more about our budget, let me know!

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I hope to see every state of the U.S. I hope this blog is not too long, its one of my favorite memories to talk about. I wanted to share as many details as I could if you are planning on going.

Don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel for actual Vlogs of the trip!
